Iryn Namumbiru of the “Birowoozo” fame is not really the poster child of soul music in Uganda. However, when she puts her heart in it, and she gets her pipes going, you really get the soul.

In that regard, she even gave us a whole Neo Soul when she took a sabbatical from Afro-pop. It is that Iryn Namubiru who is going to turn up at the Soul on Strings edition of the Roast and Rhyme Festival in November at Jahazi Pier in Munyonyo. She was recently announced as the headliner for the festival.

This will mark her first major show since her successful “Timeless Experience” concert at the Kampala Serena Hotel, and she is excited to grace the Ugandan stage once again.

With Iryn leading an impressive lineup, attendees should also expect an enchanting musical journey set against a breathtaking lakeside backdrop.

The organisers have promised that it will be an acoustic concert. As far as acoustic performances go, Maro should be on safe ground.

However, having been away for four years (he recently returned to the country from the US), he may need a lot of practice to get it right.

With his Rn’B leaning soul, the picnic set will suit him well. The only problem is that organisers have the bad habit of lining up such performances very late in the night, when most people are too inebriated to fully soak it all in. Zuli Tumz has also been revealed as one of the performers on the day.
