Speaker of Parliament Anita Among on Thursday, March 5, 2026, hosted the legendary Congolese gospel group Makoma at her residence in Kololo, Kampala, ahead of their highly anticipated concert at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds this Friday, marking New Vision’s 40th anniversary celebrations. The group was accompanied by Vision Group CEO, Don Wanayma.

Welcoming the group, Among described the members as “true friends” and thanked them for visiting Uganda, noting that friendship is strengthened by understanding one another’s roots. She also praised President Yoweri Museveni for promoting women’s participation in leadership, saying women now occupy about 65 percent of political appointments.

Among said she deeply appreciates Makoma’s music and revealed that members of her team will attend the group’s concert scheduled for Friday (March 5) as part of the New Vision 40th anniversary celebrations.

She described the anniversary celebrations as a significant national milestone, noting that they coincide with other important national commemorations. Among also commended Vision Group Chief Executive Officer Don Wanyama for promoting Uganda and attracting international guests to the country.

The Speaker said Uganda is a God-fearing nation and expressed happiness that the country is hosting gospel musicians during a sacred period. She urged the Makoma members to continue speaking positively about Uganda when they return home, saying such goodwill helps promote the country internationally and reflects patriotism.
