At an earlier press conference, Sachi Basaki intimated that there is no one who lives a party life in Uganda like the Congolese community. And he promised to make Ugandans dance as much as Congolese at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds as Makoma performs while New Vision marks 40 years.

Sachi Basaki just managed to get them off their feet. He started with a very slow pace and tried teaching the audience Lingala phrases, which many failed to grasp. So, he decided to pick up the pace in rhythm, not dance.

His second song was a hint of Afro and R n’ B. From the third number, he went rhumba. It is at that point that we were reminded of his roots. The guy on the lead guitar played what Ugandans have grown up to call the Congolese guitar.

He continued gathering pace, and so did the audience. When he asked them to wave anything they had, handkerchiefs, hands and chairs all went up in the air.

The folks in the VVIP section, however, kept their VVIP stature, looking from the stage to the ordinary section, probably enjoying the energy on show.

That was quite a warm-up for Makoma.
