UNEB to start marking final exams online

Odongo said the cost of managing examinations, including marking scripts, is growing faster with the expanding number of candidates every year. “The main reason we are studying digital marking is to cut costs and manage our examinations well. We are still at the preliminary stages. Once we conclude this study, we will then take it to our governing board, before we present it to other authorities for approval,” he said.

Odongo explained that the growing number of candidates is increasingly putting pressure on the examination body to hire more examination markers and transporters of examination materials, which drives the cost higher.
