The Uganda Aviation Academy Limited (UAA) has announced a major expansion that would add two training centres, eight aircraft and two flight simulators as it seeks to establish itself as a leading aviation training hub in East and Central Africa.
Under the plan, the academy will open two new training centres in Entebbe and Jinja, each with a distinct role.
Management has revealed that the plan has been approved recently by the academy’s board of directors, marking a significant step in the institution’s 15-year history.

According to the press release issued on Friday, November 6, 2026, the Entebbe centre will focus on airline operations, cabin crew training, aviation management, airport services and aviation safety, while the Jinja branch will serve as the academy’s main practical flight training hub, combining aircraft operations, simulators, ground-school instruction and technical training facilities.
The release, jointly signed by the academy’s board chairperson Yogi Birigwa and the executive director of the academy, Rodney Mukula, states that the academy also plans to acquire eight training aircraft and two flight simulators.

According to the statement, the fleet is meant to support training toward private pilot licences, commercial pilot licences, instrument ratings and multi-engine ratings subject to regulatory approval.
The academy says it is pursuing international partnerships and structured financing arrangements to fund the aircraft, simulators and related infrastructure.
