MASINDI - A break-in at Kinumi Community Secondary School's computer lab has left the institution without 17 Central Processing Units (CPUs) and 9 monitors.
In a recent security operation, Masindi police nabbed four suspects, including the school's security guard, students and the ICT room attendant.
Kinumi Seed Secondary School is a new school which was constructed by government in 2024.
During the break-in on September 20, 2026, suspected thugs cut through a burglar bar on a computer lab window to gain entry.
The incident was reported the following morning, September 21, at approximately 10:15 AM.

Eyewitnesses in Kagorogoro village reported seeing a suspicious new model Noah vehicle around 3:20 AM, with unknown individuals boarding it near the school before it sped off towards Masindi town.
According to the police statement, CCTV footage from Kidawalime company cameras also captured a white Noah vehicle exiting the area around 3:50 AM, though its license plate was obscured.

The four individuals arrested to assist with inquiries are Remon Ahaisibwe, 22, the ICT room attendant responsible for the lab key; Jacob Ojara, 37, the school security guard, who was on duty but claims no knowledge of the break-in; Isaac Meeja, 19, an S.4 student; and Abdulrahim Balismaki, 20, an S.4 student.
The acting school head teacher, Beatrice Agonzebwa, told police that her investigations revealed that the thieves gained access to the computer laboratory through a window, since the main entrance door showed no signs of forced entry.
A team led by Masindi Deputy Resident District Commissioner Sanon Dhaala visited the school to ascertain the situation.
Dhaala says three people, including the acting head teacher, ICT teacher and school security guard, have been arrested to aid investigations.
He has appealed to members of the community to cooperate with security by providing information that could help identify the suspects and recover the stolen computers.
