KAMPALA - Uganda's Ministry of Education and Sports has admitted 6,000 students for the Joint Admissions Board (JAB) selections.

The board (JAB) coordinates the admission of students to undergraduate diploma programmes in public tertiary institutions.

Specifically, it handles the admissions for students who have completed their A' Level education and are seeking to pursue diploma courses in public institutions. The board ensures the admission process is fair and accessible to all eligible candidates.

Applicants can check for their names from the lists displayed on the notice board in the basement at Legacy Towers (Kyadondo Road-Kampala), at the Ministry of Education and Sports Wing A and B in the basement or the ministry's official website (www.education.go.ug).

The successful students must pick up their admission letters from the admitting institutions or colleges in time to avoid inconveniences for them to report early.

The selected students will be absorbed into 33 Public Other Tertiary Institutions, with admission to various national diploma programmes, including business, agriculture, forestry, technical and health-related courses.

During the opening session of 36th JAB selection meeting on Thursday, higher education state minister John Chrysestom Muyingo declared August 18, 2025, as the reporting date for the first-year students in health training institutions and August 25, 2025, for technical and business institutions.

Peter Kyozira, the ministry's commissioner of admissions, scholarships and student Affairs, said he was happy with the team that handled the selection exercise for maintaining a similar timeline to last year to release the results.

Kyozira said more learners have continued to apply for health-related courses, which he said benefits Uganda's growing population.

"We see government has continued to give more opportunities to people who apply for allied clinical officers due to the vital role they play, where doctors are not present, to save lives, especially in the rural areas," he said.
