Tributes continue to pour in for Stella Apolot Isodo, the Ngora district woman Member of Parliament, who passed away on January 17, 2026, following an illness shortly after losing her re-election bid.
Foreign affairs minister Gen. Jeje Abubakar Odongo expressed deep sorrow over her death, describing Apolot as a warm, engaging and approachable legislator who built strong relationships across political divides.
Speaking from his residence in Orungo, Gen. Odongo said Parliament and the country had lost a committed public servant at a critical moment, noting that her vibrant spirit and cheerful demeanour would be missed in the upcoming 12th Parliament.
Stella Apolot, a member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), has been widely praised for her dedication to public service, her advocacy for fairness and her concern for the welfare of ordinary citizens.
Condolences have continued to pour in from political leaders, parliamentary colleagues, friends and constituents.
A special sitting of Parliament will be held on Tuesday (January 20) at 2:00 PM in her honour.
A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday (January 21) at the Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church in Soroti, starting at 11:00 AM.
A vigil will take place on Thursday (January 22) at Osigiria village in Ngora town council, ahead of her burial the next day, Friday, at her ancestral home in Osigiria village, Ngora town council.
