Uganda Securities Exchange turnover nearly doubled during the week, closing at sh1.51b ($400,900), up from sh759.2m ($205,797) the previous week, according to Crested Capital’s data.
Trading volumes also climbed, with 13,174,903 shares changing hands compared to 10,399,742 shares the week before.
Stanbic Holdings Limited led activity on the bourse, accounting for sh680.3m ($181,004) from 8,234,571 shares traded. MTN Uganda followed with sh559.5m ($148,879) from 1,307,458 shares, while Umeme Limited moved sh168.7m ($44,905) from 2,682,200 shares.
Airtel Uganda dealt sh63.4m ($16,888) from 372,685 shares, Bank of Baroda traded sh34.6m ($9,223) from 577,800 shares, while NIC Holdings Limited recorded thin activity, moving just sh1,213 (32 US cents) from 189 shares.
Four counters gain
Four locally listed counters posted price movements, with NIC appreciating 9.84% to close at sh6.70. Stanbic added 2.31% to close at sh81.85, while MTN edged up 0.28% to sh428.00.
Airtel was the sole loser among active counters, shedding 0.51% to close at sh170.06 per share. Baroda and Umeme remained flat at sh60 and sh63 respectively.
Cross-listed counters rally
Cross-listed counters on the USE recorded broad gains. Centum Holdings rose 3.77% to sh432.99, East African Breweries gained 3.11% to sh7,831.67, and Equity Group Holdings added 1.97% to sh2,528.22.
Jubilee Holdings grew 0.22% to sh10,948.36, KCB Group and Nation Media Group both appreciated 4.22%, closing at sh2,382.92 and sh370.52 respectively. Kenya Airways was the only cross-listed counter in the red, dropping 0.83% to sh160.99.
