Uganda Breweries Ltd (UBL) says it has unveiled new products, including the Diageo 2025 Special Releases Scotch Whisky Collection—Horizons Unbound, ahead of the festive season.
Company international premium spirits marketing manager Robert Nsibirwa, on November 16, 2025, said Uganda is among the select markets that secured an allocation of the coveted 2025 release despite overwhelming international demand.
“Uganda has received five of the rare expressions, and each bottle is a once-in-a-lifetime release,” Nsibirwa said, adding that the collection arriving in Uganda features five distinctive single malts, each crafted with unique techniques and flavour profiles.
These are the Singleton of Glen Ord 17-Year-Old, known as Into the Blue, is finished in ex-Mezcal and second-fill ex-Sherry casks.
Others are Talisker’s 14-Year-Old Molten Seas, which, according to Nsibirwa, is a first-of-its-kind experiment from the Isle of Skye, Lagavulin’s 12-Year-Old Grain & Embers, Oban’s 12-Year-Old Heart of the Harbour and Clynelish 18-Year-Old Waxen Sun.
According to Simon Lapyem, the brand manager for Singleton in East Africa, the arrival of the special releases demonstrates the growing sophistication of Uganda’s whisky community.
“Special Releases are produced in very limited quantities, never to be repeated, which is why collectors anticipate them so eagerly,” he said.
“Beyond their rarity, these whiskies make unforgettable gifts, especially during the festive season. Giving one of these bottles shows someone that they deserve something exceptional, something they can enjoy now or treasure for years.”
