NIC Holdings share price surged 33.33% to close at the trading week at sh16 per share, even as overall market turnover pulled back from the previous week at the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE).
NIC dealt sh51,500 ($13.08) from 3,500 shares during the week. Market data from Crested Capital shows that turnover fell to sh938.1m ($238,207) from sh4.49m ($1.16m) a week earlier. Volumes traded dropped to 10.37 million shares from 42.72 million.
Stanbic Holdings moved sh512.85m ($130,157) from 5.01 million shares, moving a daily volume of bout one million shares. Umeme followed with sh196.89m ($49,996) from 3.13 million shares. Bank of Baroda (BOBU) traded sh146.62m ($37,231) from 1.79 million shares.
Quality Chemical Industries (QCIL) dealt sh43.55m ($11,058) from 270,500 shares and MTN Uganda exchanged sh13.02m ($3,305) from 29,440 shares.
Dfcu traded sh846,500 ($214) from 2,500 share, Uganda Clays (UCL) moved sh2,520 ($0.64) from 300 shares, and New Vision (NVL) closed out the week with sh435 ($0.11) from 3 shares.
Price movements
BOBU also leaped, up 18.19% to sh82.73, Stanbic Holdings added 3.57% to close at sh104.61, and MTN edged up 0.76% to sh443.34.
Airtel held steady at sh183, Dfcu at sh337, NVL at sh145, QCIL at sh161, UCL at sh8.40 and Umeme at sh63.
The USE All Share Index (ALSI) lost 1.25% to close at 2,426.04, while the C11, Crested's Local Companies Index, gained 1.84% to 223.52.
