Monthly export earnings reach sh4.97 trillion in May

Gold remained Uganda’s leading export commodity, earning $814.78m (sh3.01 trillion) in May, although this was lower than the $866.10m (sh3.20 trillion) earned in April. Coffee retained its position as Uganda’s second-largest export, generating $151.70m (sh559.8b) from exports of 617,491 sixty-kilogramme bags during May, compared to $155.54m (sh573.9b) earned from 591,687 bags exported in April.

KAMPALA - Uganda earned $1.346b (about sh4.97 trillion) from merchandise exports in May, marking a 12.8% increase from $1.193b (sh4.40 trillion) earned in the same month last year.
