The Uganda shilling closed Tuesday’s session trading at the 3712/3722 levels against the dollar.

Activity was still balanced overall with continued flows despite demand from energy, telecom, and manufacturing.

Liquidity remained tight during Tuesday’s session with overnight yields at an average of 11.38% according to Absa. Bank of Uganda is scheduled to hold a treasury bill auction on September 25, 2024.

At the Uganda Securities Exchange, only five counters were active during Tuesday’s session.

Bank of Baroda exchanged a volume worth about sh2.5m, MTN traded sh204,349 in turnover while Quality Chemicals Limited dealt sh184,800. Stanbic traded sh12,000 and Umeme exchanged sh473,000 according to data from Crested Capital.

In terms of share price movement, MTN gained 0.20% to close at sh181 per share whereas Stanbic added 2.44% to close the session at sh42 per share. All other counters had their stock price unchanged during the day.
