KAMPALA - Uganda’s annual headline inflation rose slightly to 3.7% in June 2026, up from 3.2% recorded in May, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) data released by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS).

The annual core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, also increased to 3.4% in June from 3% the previous month. UBOS attributed the rise mainly to higher prices of beef and increased costs in services such as passenger transport.

Beef prices have continued to climb due to factors including high feed costs and livestock market dynamics, while transport fares and school-related expenses have added upward pressure on the core basket.

As the new fiscal year begins in July 2026, UBOS said the annual headline inflation for FY 2025/26 averaged 3.3%, down from 3.5% recorded in FY 2024/25.
