Uganda, Hungary discuss possible areas of cooperation in agriculture

Istvan Nagy arrived in the country on Saturday accompanied by Zsolt Mezaros, the Ambassador of Hungary to Kenya accredited to Uganda. 

The Minister of State for griculture in charge of animal industry, Bright Rwamirama, has held discussions with the Hungarian minister of agriculture Istvan Nagy in possible areas of cooperation.

The Minister of State for griculture in charge of animal industry, Bright Rwamirama, has held discussions with the Hungarian minister of agriculture Istvan Nagy in possible areas of cooperation.

Istvan Nagy arrived in the country on Saturday accompanied by Zsolt Mezaros, the Ambassador of Hungary to Kenya accredited to Uganda. 

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, the Minister was received by Amb. Elly Kamahungye, Director International Economic Cooperation Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Jessica Namuddu, Consular Officer at the Uganda Embassy Berlin. 

The meeting was attended by Kyambogo University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Eli Katunguka Rwakishaya, Vice Chancellor, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, and the Kyambogo University staff. 

During the meetings, matters of mutual interest were discussed which included reviewing the possible cooperation in the proposed areas in Knowledge transfer, training, and scholarships in the agriculture sector as well as other investment programs.

They discussed value addition on agricultural products, machinery, and fertilizers was also discussed and the long outstanding Aquaculture Centre that was proposed to be put up in Soroti will be implemented.

It was agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Agriculture which will cover all possible areas of cooperation, will be drafted by the Hungarian Government to be shared with the Ugandan Government for their input. 

A Business delegation will be arranged between the two governments at a later time.
