Truck collision at Namagunga cuts off Jinja Road traffic

Travellers are advised to use the Mukono-Katosi road or the Mukono-Kayunga Njeru road

Traffic on Kampala -Jinja highway was (Sunday, March 3, 2024) paralyzed following accident at Namagunga involving a trailor, Tipper and a Pickup, cutting off the road. It’s said the driver of trailer, Benz KDD 531H lost control, first knocking a pick-up double cabin and later its container fell off landing on a Tipper that was crashed. Traffic on Jinja Road was on Sunday afternoon cut off following a serious accident at Namagunga involving a trailer and a tipper truck.

Michael Kananura, the Police’s Traffic and Safety Directorate spokesperson, advised those travelling either to or from Jinja to instead use the Mukono-Katosi road or the Mukono-Kayunga Njeru road.

"We have registered a serious road traffic accident at Namagunga involving a trailer, tipper and a pickup, cutting off the Kampala-Jinja highway," Kananura said.

"Traffic to Jinja is being diverted via Katosi at Wantoni-Mukono, as Njeru also diverts traffic to Kampala through the same route," he added.

Photos shared by Police indicated the wreckage of the truck had covered the whole road by press time.
