One person on Monday, February 26, was confirmed dead, several people were injured, and animals including cows, sheep and goats killed when a truck transporting them was involved in a head-on collision with a trailer at Lugalambo in Buikwe District on the Kampala-Jinja highway.

Hellen Butoto, the Sezibwa region Police spokesperson, said the accident involved a Fuso truck registration number UBM 519B carrying cattle, goats and sheep had a head-on collision with a trailer registration number UBK 223H.

“One person has been confirmed dead and several others injured. Several animals that were aboard the truck were also killed due to the impact of the collision. The incident happened at around 4pm,” Butoto said.

The carcasses of several animals remained strewn by the roadside by press time while those injured were rushed to Kawolo Hospital for treatment.

By press time, the Police had not disclosed what caused the incident.
