Vision Group’s TV East on Thursday started market activations to reward its viewers ahead of its launch at the Soroti Sports Ground in Soroti City on Saturday.

The activities that started at the Arapai cattle market attracted thousands of people across the Teso region. The TV station will be at the Ocorimongin cattle market in Katakwi district on Friday (today).

Several residents appreciated Vision Group for bringing the new TV station that broadcasts in the local language that they understand best.

“We are very happy that we have got the only TV station that broadcasts programmes and news in Ateso. TV East is the only TV that has Ateso news in the whole world,” Stephen Okello, a charcoal seller, said on Thursday. 

Stella Akia, the Promotions manager for TV East and Etop Radio encouraged people in different communities to join them in the TV launch on Saturday.

Akia said their main aim is to target the local person with the local content.

“The reason we broadcast in the local language is because we do not have a TV station that allows the people from the village to exactly understand the news in the language they know best. Most people do not understand the English language and so that’s why we have mainly come with Ateso to target the Teso community”, Akia said.

Several viewers won T-shirts from MTN Uganda, one of the sponsors of the activations, among others.
