“This is part of our corporate social responsibility to the community we serve. Pallisa is one of our strongholds for both listenership on Etop Radio and now TV East,” said Stella Akia, the promotions officer.

The staff of TV East, Vision Group's newest television station, on Friday conducted a cleaning exercise of Agule Health Centre III and town council in Uganda's eastern district of Pallisa.

The team also organized a blood donation drive to collect blood for supporting hospitals.

“This is part of our corporate social responsibility to the community we serve. Pallisa is one of our strongholds for both listenership on Etop Radio and now TV East,” said Stella Akia, the promotions officer.

A friendly football match at Agule Primary School was also part of the day's activities.

Former Agule county MP David Ochwa partnered with TV East — the pioneer TV in broadcasting Ateso news — which he hailed for promoting Ateso language.

“I applaud Vision Group for introducing TV East that is helping Iteso promote their culture and norms. I decided to partner with you because Vision Group is a giant media company that runs educational and informative programmes,” said the legislator.

Simon Okia, the Agule town mayor, expressed gratitude to TV East for choosing Pallisa as its first destination to hold a cleaning exercise as well as mobilize the community in blood donation.

Resident John Otim was impressed that the television station was mindful of community hygiene.

“Every evening, I am at our trading centre to watch Ateso news at 7pm," he added.

"We are extremely happy that we can watch Ateso news together with our grandparents who never got a chance to go to school."
