Kitara Football Club unveiled its players and coaching staff for the 2023/24 football season at the Kigaaya playgrounds on Saturday, August 26, evening.

The team now stands at a capacity of 30 players as they prepare to start the Uganda Premier League officially on September 15, with an exciting match against SC Villa at the Wankulukuku II Stadium in Kampala.

Addressing the media, Kasozi said the Kitara management is promising full support to the team because they want it to compete favourably.

“We have put in a lot of effort and resources in the team and we hope the results will be better than they were during our last appearance in the 2020/21 season,” Kasozi said.

“Our fans and partners are excited about the team and, therefore, we believe that this squad is well motivated and ready for the Uganda premier league,” he added.

Kasozi also called upon the players to be dedicated and disciplined on and off the pitch, saying the two go hand-in-hand and are a prerequisite for success.

The new players who were signed from different clubs in the current transfer window were presented to the fans at Kigaaya.

They included, Denis Omedi, Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye, Jude Ssemugabi, Solomon Okwalinga, Chris Kusiima, Luwalo Kipper, Kabon Living, Ibrahim Magandaazi, Yasintah Sabir, Hamim Ssemakula, Frank Yiga, Samson Kasozi, Okello Donato, Benjamin Nyakoojo and Brian Aheebwa.

Shafiq Raiven Magogo was absent as he’s currently in Rwanda competing in the East Africa secondary schools football competitions with Kibuli SS.

Meanwhile, the technical staff, led by head coach Brian Ssenyondo, was also formally revealed and he will be deputized by David Bbale and Isa Sserwanja as first and second assistant respectively.

Bbale has gained experience over the years and is also a CAF B licence holder. He has previously worked with Vipers SC, Express FC, Edgars Youth Programme, Mbarara City, Fountain Gates FC and Kitayosa FC (Tabora United) in the Tanzanian Championship.

“Our second assistant coach Isa Sserwanja has coached Kampala regional league side Kamwokya United and Proline FC. He’s also CAF ‘B’ licensed,” Kasozi said.

Former Uganda Cranes shoot stopper, Hamza Muwonge retained his role as the goalkeeping coach while the fitness coach is Sharon Aceng.

The team was tested later in a friendly match against fellow league opponents Wakiso Giants, a game Kitara won 1-0 through a George Senkaaba penalty.

The team landed another sponsorship of sh200m which will take effect at the start of the new Uganda Premier League season.

Kasozi said as a club they are excited that more sponsors like Jonard Conglomerates Investments Ltd are coming on board and that will increase the financial capacity of the club.

“As a way of sustainability, we need a stadium and last year we were happy that our fans collected sh250m and sh60m from selling replica jerseys and that was important because the club operated on a 900M budget,” he said.

Eng. Jonard Asiimwe, the director of Jonard Conglomerates Investments Ltd., said it was a very big opportunity for the company to partner with Kitara FC.

According to Asiimwe, the partnership will improve the general wellbeing of the staff and enable the team to perform to their full potential ahead of the new season.
