FUFA Drum: Bugisu summons star-studded 30-man squad

Bugisu Province has finally revealed the 30-man squad for the 4th edition of the FUFA Drum.

The summoned squad has four goalkeepers, nine defenders, 11 midfielders and six forwards. 

The squad is headlined by goalkeeper Isma Watenga who plays for Marumo Gallants in South Africa, Vipers SC award-winning captain Milton Karisa, KCCA FC attacking midfielder Arafat Usama, Leganes SC’s Ibrahim Juma and UPDF FC captain Ibrahim Wamana.

Karisa scooped 4 awards including the Best Player Award in the Uganda Premier League 2022-2023.

Some of the new faces on the team are NEC FC’s Gideon Odongo and Arua City FC forward Baron Kironde.

Kironde helped Arua City finish 3rd in Nyagak Zone in the 2022/23 West Nile Regional League. He was involved in 10 games and scored seven goals with three assists.

Just like the previous editions, Bugisu Province will be coached by Kataka FC head coach Godfrey Awachango.

He will be assisted by Martin Maruti but more coaches are to be added to the technical bench.

Bugisu is in Group C with neighbours Busoga and defending champions West Nile in this year’s competition.

Bugisu hosts Busoga in its first group game on Sunday, July 16 at Mbale Stadium.

Defenders: Paul Musamali (Arua Hill SC), Ibrahim Juma (Leganes CD), Haruna Lukwago (KCCA FC), Gideon Odongo (NEC FC), Hassan Wadenga (Kataka FC), Emmanuel Shikanga (Mbale Heroes FC), Musa Malunda (Mbale Heroes FC), Robert Edmond Otim (Kataka FC), Stephen Namaisi (Kataka FC)

Midfielders: Ibrahim Wamanah (UPDF FC), Usama Arafat (KCCA FC), Abdu Karim Watambala (Vipers SC), Francis Odongo (Mbarara City FC), Baron Kironde (Arua City FC), Swamad Okur (Kataka FC), Akram Bosco Munyolo (Kataka FC), Lazarus Ocire (Kataka FC), Usama Khayemba (Kataka FC), Gerrald Phillip Kagwa (IUIU SC), Abdukarim Muhofa (SCORE SC).
