Buddu FC manager Steven Zziwa has tasked tactician Simon Ddungu with winning a third Masaza Cup title.

Buddu, who last won the Masaza Cup title in 2021 beat Bulemeezi in a final at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

“The only task we have given Dunga is to win this season’s title. Two years is some good time without having any silverware in our cabinet,” Zziwa said.

He stated this on Monday afternoon at Next Hotel in Masaka City as he unveiled Simon Ddungu.

Ddungu replaces Simon Peter Mugerwa who coached the side for one season but did not live up to the expectations of his bosses, leading to both parties parting ways.

Zziwa has acknowledged the fact that they are in a massive recruitment stage for players this season who fit the coach’s philosophy.

“We are now heading for player recruitment for players that fit Ddunga’s philosophy hence enabling him to win us the title. Ddungu is confident that his experience was one of the reasons why the Buddu FC management sought it wisely and appointed him,” Zziwa said.

“I have immersed enough experience in coaching Masaza Cup with sides like Gomba, Ssingo, and other sides, this is the reason why I was handpicked by the many coaches to stir Buddu into winning this season’s title which I gallantly accepted.”

Ddungu last won the title with Gomba FC in 2017 and has always been a contender with his sides having made attempts last season with Ssingo FC.

Joseph Ltaaya, the  Buddu FC chairman is delighted to work with Ddungu.

“I implore all the fans of our club to support Ddungu who has decided to work with us and admit that he will be enabling us to win the title this season. |

This year’s Masaza Cup title will kick off in June.
