Homeowners can embrace artistic pieces to beautify their compounds.

Betty Nambooze Bakireke, the Member of Parliament for Mukono municipality, says she put artistic sculptures in her compound with each communicating a different message.

“I had artistic pieces sculptured in my compound to communicate specific messages. One of the art pieces has two antelopes, with one running away while leaving the other behind - in tears. The message in this artistic sculpture is the negative effects of corruption on the poor people of Uganda, who are often left crying when government officials misuse public funds,” Nambooze says.

She further states that another artistic piece depicts a mother giving her son drinking water.

She explains that when you are in trouble, your mother can never leave you for death.

She will fight tooth and nail to help you solve your problem.

Politically speaking, according to Nambozee, life has both good and bad people and when in trouble, not everyone will abandon you to death. There will be someone coming to your rescue.

Nambooze says the art piece in her compound that shows the crested crane, which is the national bird of Uganda, depicts nationalism and must be respected.

Such art in a home often says a lot about the homeowner.
