The parliamentary committee on commissions, statutory authorities and state enterprises (COSASE) has tasked legislator Mwesigwa Rukaari (Mbarara City North) and businesswoman Janet Kobusingye to explain the acquisition of Uganda Railways Corporation land.

Kobusingye is the owner of Mestil Hotel in Kampala which allegedly sits on part of the railways land in Nsambya.

Appearing before the committee on Tuesday, the MPs asked fellow legislator Mwesigwa to explain how he acquired three pieces of the land in question.

The committee directed the MP to provide evidence that he paid for the three pieces of land he acquired at Nsambya, belonging to Uganda Railways.

However, the MP said he didn't have the receipts.

The committee has directed him to look for the receipts.
