The Police in Kigezi has kick-started investigations to ascertain the circumstances under which four people died in separate murders.

The Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly Maate said the separate incidents occurred in a space of three days.

The first murder incident was reported in Omukatoma cell, Kichwamba Parish, Ruhinda sub-county, Rujumbura County, in Rukungiri district.

In this case, Evalyne Komugisha, 21, was allegedly murdered by her mother Patricia Kyosimire, 50.

She allegedly picked a log that she used to hit the deceased in the chest hence leading to her death.

The deceased's body was later taken to Rwakabengo Health Centre III pending investigations.

The second murder is of Papius Kukundakwe, 31, which occurred on Sunday.

He was allegedly murdered at his home in Rubira village, Katokye Parish, in Kyanamira sub-county, in Kabale district.

Police identified the suspect as Justus Muhwezi, 42, a cousin to the deceased who is also a resident of the same village, and arrested him.

It is alleged that Muhwezi hacked Kukundakwe as he had gone to pick his cow which was grazing next to his home.

Muhwezi claimed that when he had strange sounds next to his home, and suspecting he was under attack, he decided to defend himself.

In another development, Ezra Ngabirano while attending a function at the home of Fausta Mwomeire, developed a misunderstanding with Vincent Byaruhanga which resulted in a serious fight on Thursday.

In the process, Byaruhanga allegedly hit the deceased with a stone.

Although Police rushed to the scene and tried to save the victim's life, he later passed on while at Kisizi Hospital the following day.

The incident happened at Ngaragi cell in Mutama Parish, Nyakishenyi sub-county, in Rukungiri district.

Also in Kazinga I cell, Rwanga ward in Kihihi Town Council, in Kanungu district, Police responded to a murder incident of Pius Magoba, 45, whose body was found lying in a pool of blood on the roadside a few meters from his home.

Police said the deceased was killed by unknown assailants for unknown reasons.

This brings the total number of murder cases in the region (Kanungu, Rukungiri, Rubanda and Kabale) to four.

Police has opened up different murder case files for all four murder cases CRB 103/2021, SD:09/13/11/2021, CRB: 967/2021, and CRB 1526/2021 respectively.
