The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, has urged leaders in Kampala to respect each other and put service delivery above politics.
She made the call while meeting MPs from Kampala, the line ministers and the technocrats to find a way of working together to better service delivery.
The meeting took place at her Parliamentary office in Kampala on Wednesday.
“I asked the executive director of Kampala Capital City Authority (Dorothy Kisaka) to ensure that elected leaders are informed about works in their areas and involved in pushing the development agenda of the city. Politics should not deny the local people service delivery,” Among, who is also the Bukedea Woman MP, said.
National Unity Platform (NUP) party won nine of Kampala’s ten parliamentary seats in the January 14 elections with a remainder of one (Kampala Central) being taken by an opposition-leaning independent, Mohammad Nsereko.
In KCCA council, it has 44 out of 47 lord councilors, while the Forum for Democratic Change, which has been having a majority there, took the remainder.
