Police is to crack a whip on boda boda riders who have started carrying passengers, which is against the COVID-19 presidential directives.

The police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said their investigations show that some boda boda operators have started carrying passengers which might lead to the spread of Coronavirus.

While addressing journalists at the police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala, their intelligence had discovered that some boda boda riders were slowly returning to carrying passengers to various parts of the country.

He said they have already ordered their security personnel to crack a whip on such riders so that they can face the law.

Enanga cited and an incident in Mukono, where a boda boda rider who was carrying a female passenger, jumped off the motorcycle on seeing security personnel and the passenger fell and sustained injuries.

He said they have also given powers to their inspectorate officers to pluck off number plates from vehicles that are using forged stickers.
