What if HIV response worldwide funding ends? AIDS patients and civil society organisations (CSOs) often pose that million-dollar question. They say donor support for HIV and AIDS in Eastern Europe and Central Asia has been dwindling in recent years. Milly Katana, an HIV activist, says the Global Fund has implemented  a new funding model  that challenges eligibility requirements, affecting countries receiving funds, despite the fact that many of these countries are still largely reliant on foreign money for their national HIV response.  Prof. Vinand Nantulya, the former chairperson of Uganda AIDS Commission, says while the Government of Uganda has committed significant resources in battling HIV and AIDS, the country remains heavily reliant on external foreign donors, particularly for the purchase of HIV and AIDS prevention and treatment commodities.
