As the Christmas holidays get closer, the police in Kampala have poured cold water on people who had started shopping for merry-making and festivities and warned of taking action on both organizers and revelers who will be arrested taking part in any music show.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Patrick Onyango warned that anyone who will be netted organizing a music show, party or concert or any other form of merry-making event will be arrested and prosecuted in courts of law.
"We want to warn the organisers of these parties to desist frombreaking the law," he said.
According to Onyango, the police have been listening, watching, and reading several online and traditional media advertising parties in different places like hotels, beaches, and other open arenas.
He said these advertisements must stop immediately because they are misleading people because they have not been cleared by the police.
"We have read, listened and seen several advertisements both online and traditional media advertising parties in different places like hotels, beaches, and other open arenas," Onyango said in a statement.
He added that the ministry of health guidelines on COVID-19 were still standing.
"The Public Health (Control of COVID-19) rules, 2020, which was put inplace to fight the spread of Coronavirus is still in operation", he stated.
He added, "We appeal to members of the public to report to us anyparty or event that breaches the Coronavirus regulations".
According to Onyango, they also warn any person that will attend such events that he or she will be arrested for breaching the laws.
