Muhoozi re-appointed SFC boss, Muzeyi dropped

KAMPALA - President Yoweri Museveni who is also the Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces on Wednesday carried out a reshuffle within the Security agencies and re-appointed Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba back to the Special Forces Command (SFC) replacing Maj. Gen. James Birungi.

Gen Paul Lokech who was on a special assignment "to monitor on behalf of the guarantors of the South Sudan peace process, the assembling, screening, demobilization and integration of the armed forces of South Sudan" was appointed Deputy IGP replacing Maj. Gen. Sabiiti Muzeyi who was sent back to the Army headquarters for redeployment.

Maj. Gen. Birungi replaces Lokech. 

Museveni also re-appointed Okoth Ochola as Inspector General of Police.

SFC is an elite unit responsible for the security of the President of Uganda and special operations that Lt. Gen. Kainerugaba helped modernize in. He was transferred and appointed Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations.

Uganda Peoples Defence Spokesperson Brig. Flavia Byekwaso confirmed the developments noting that. "It is true some changes were effected today within the security circles." She declined to divulge further.

Gen. Sabiiti who was appointed the Deputy IGP has had a turbulent stay in office. Sources in security told New Vision has been on the spot especially within the security circles following several operational blunders within the police force.

Lokech appointment awaits approval from the Parliament appointments committee.
