Asked about the race ahead of a scientific campaign meeting in Kamuli by the NRM presidential candidate, President Yoweri Museveni, Kadaga said she was confident about a win.

"A challenge? That's a joke," she said with a chuckle. "I know my strength. I know my support in this district. That is why there is no challenge. Whoever is competing against me is just escorting me.

"I was the flag bearer with the highest number of votes in Uganda. I won by over 100,000 votes. Those people have not died. They are still in this district," the national vice-chairperson for the ruling NRM said.

Regarding the political challenge to Museveni posed by the independent presidential candidate, Nancy Kalembe, a native of Busoga sub-region, Kadaga said Kalembe was no threat.

"I welcome Nancy. She is one of our children, but I don't think she has gained the stature to effectively compete with the NRM. But it is good that she has tried," Kadaga stated.
