Choose peace over violence, Bahati tells Kigezi youths

KABALE - The Minister of state for finance planning and economic development David Bahati has advised youths against electoral violence as the political season gains momentum.

While holding scientific meetings in the villages of Katenga, Kashenyi, Nyabyumba in Kamuganguzi sub-county, Kabale district, Bahati appealed to the youths in Kigezi subregion and Uganda to choose peaceful and non-violent ways of choosing their leaders other than destructive ways.

"Many of you have heard and seen on radios and TVs youths burning car tires on roads. Youths who are here, we request you especially Kigezi youths to choose the National Resistance Movement way of peace but not violence," he said.

Bahati who is also the Ndorwa West member of parliament and Kabale district NRM chairman explained to the youths who attended his meetings that NRM led by President Yoweri Museveni fought for freedom, human rights and peace for Uganda. He said Museveni is the right leader to secure the future of Uganda.

He asked the youth to choose leaders who will promote peace in the country.

"President Museveni and NRM government brought peace in this country for everyone to enjoy, so youths please choose the right leaders," he said adding that the youth have the freedom to live their lives but not the freedom to destroy other people's lives and property

Bahati advised the youths to use the prevailing peace in the country to take advantage of the government programs like Emyooga to develop themselves.
