CELEBRATING LIFE | SHEIKH MUZAATA

Thousands of mourners across the political and religious divide have thronged Kibuli Mosque for the last funeral prayers of Sheikh Nuhu Hamza Batte a.k.a Muzaata.

Sheikh Yasin Kiweewa, a close friend to Sheikh Muzaata appealed to people not speculate about his death noting that death is a preserve of Allah.

"Nobody killed sheikh Muzaata apart from Allah. Let us just pray that Allah grants him paradise. I also request whoever he wronged to forgive him because it is human to wrong," Kiweewa said.

He condemned those excited about his death to wait for their turn noting that his (Muzaata) is done.

Kiweewa also decried the growing habit of announcing people dead which he said is a clear manifestation of detoriating behavior among some members of the public.

He revealed that Muzaata abandoned his glassmart business in Katwe to serve Islam.

"Sheikh Muzaata was unique, friendly and lovely," he said.

On behalf of his family, Musa Kakembo said:  "We only thank Allah for his life despite the fact that his death has shocked us."

"He has been a pillar in our family. We believe in Allah's determination.

He has devoted all his time for the development of Islam in the country and we pray that Allah grants him paradise."

Kakembo said Sheikh Muzaata has left a big vacuum not only in Islam but also in the family.

He also thanked President Yoweri Museveni for supporting them.
