MITYANA - Just weeks to the completion of the multimillion Zigoti main mosque, Muslims have launched a campaign to beautify the compound and develop the adjacent land.

Located in Zigoti town council, Mityana district, the mosque is expected to accommodate more than 2,000 Muslims during prayers.

In the campaign, the faithful planted trees and flowers.

"We want to beautify the place as we also conserve the environment. "These fruit trees will provide shade for us and the generation after," Ali Kizza, a Muslim leader, said.

The leaders planted the fruit trees and flowers, following a well-designed plan.

Kizza said they have also designed another plan for setting up a modern Koran school and a medical centre to help the faithful.

"We want our children to come and learn Islam easily and we shall also use the very institute to help teach adults," Kizza said.

Hajji Numan Ntamba, also one of the Muslim leaders, asked the Muslims to make good use of the mosque by praying from there, to strengthen their faith.

"Zigoti is a very big town with many Muslims. So, we want to see them come and strengthen their faith from here. We shall try our best to team up and ensure that we get the service the faithful want, such as medical services," Ntanda said.

The mosque has been constructed with funds from donors and the Muslims in the area.
