Arua Park is located at Kampala's central business district, a transport and commercial hub for trans-border trade between Uganda, DR Congo and South Sudan.

Arua Park, a place that was famous for travellers to Arua districts, the West Nile Region, South Sudan, DR Congo is not what you will see anymore.

"This place has changed. Things change. That is how the word is," said David Iga, a youthful trader in the park.

Arua Park is located at Kampala's central business district, a transport and commercial hub for trans-border trade between Uganda, DR Congo and South Sudan.

While at Arua Park in the little spaces available, you can enjoy local dishes from Arua such as smoked fish in groundnut past, millet bread (kalo), chicken, goat's meat, sweet potatoes and cassava.

Side dishes include finely chopped greens (osubi) prepared with groundnut sauce and rock salt. Vendors, makeshift restaurants are scattered in the limited spaces available.

Plenty of snacks like chapatis, roasted groundnuts, and dough nuts are available. You will see women mingling millet bread.  You will see youth are enjoying loud music and chatting.

There is a proposed development of a commercial building on the site.

The Total Petrol Station that was in the area has vanished. The building that is now three storeys high when completed is planned to house shops, stores and offices.

Construction materials, machines are placed on the giant site and the tall giant building commands attention.

The buses, trucks, trailers currently operate on the roads and roadsides.

The place bustles with business and with the support of traffic cops and taxi touts, turn boys, boda bodas, taxis, trucks, tricycles snail in and out of the area.
