KITGUM - Kitgum Resident District Commissioner (RDC) William Komakech on Wednesday (November 11, 2020) blocked efforts by the National Unity Platform leader Robert Kyagulanyi from addressing any rally in the district on the grounds that they had not been cleared.
Kyagulanyi's aide Nubian Li confirmed they had been blocked by the RDC. "RDC in Kitgum says no NUP in Kitgum. They drove us to a hotel of their choice last night at around 4:00 am and we have even been stopped to proceed to the town center," Nubian Li said.
Kyagulanyi was scheduled to campaign in Pader, Gulu, and Kitgum districts on Wednesday.
Alice Ajok, the Pader town clerk in an interview with New Vision noted that she had been told NUP did not have clearance.
However, security sources noted that the venue NUP had chosen was not best suited for crowd management.
NUP Leader has been addressing crowds by the roadside wand also moving with processions despite Electoral Commission warning candidates against this because they would expose crowds to Covid-19 infections.
Kyagulanyi later proceeded to Pader where he held a successful rally and headed to Gulu where he had his final rally.
