Independent Presidential candidate Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde on Tuesday got a baptism of teargas in his own home area as Police in Rukungiri used teargas to disperse boda boda cyclists who were escorting him.

Police noted that they were dispersing the rowdy boda boda cyclists because they had formed a procession that was banned by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Tumukunde condemned the move by police and vowed to fight on.

Tumukunde is among the 11 presidential candidates who were nominated last week by the EC to contest against the incumbent President Yoweri Museveni.

He is expected to be in Rukungiri, Kanungu, and Kisoro between November 10-12 and later head to Rubanda Rukiga and Kabale.
