The Special Forces Command (SFC) now has new headquarters named, the General Yoweri Museveni House constructed by its own construction unit.

The state of art complex in Entebbe was on Friday commissioned by, President Yoweri Museveni.

Its construction cost the government sh3.48b, opposed to the Shs9b quoted by a contractor.

Museveni also commissioned newly-built dormitories for soldiers, renovated houses for non-commissioned officers, gun shades and a 30,000-litre fuel pump.

Construction of the dormitories cost sh1.1b and all the works were executed within 23 months.

Speaking at the function, Museveni noted that, "The army should continue this way, building its facilities and saving money.

You should do this especially for lodgings for soldiers. It is not right for soldiers to sleep outside the barracks. What if war broke out in the night, where would we find you," Museveni said.

He also noted that besides saving money since contractors borrow from banks with high interest rates, military facilities like these need a certain degree of privacy and confidentiality and that building them yourselves helps.

The President warned encroachers who had taken over army land noting that they would not be tolerated.

"Encroachers on army land should not be tolerated. Encroachers should either compensate the army if they have built on the land or vacate the land and ownership reverts to the UPDF," the President said.
