Vice-President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya's bid to get elected unopposed as the Wakiso district National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairman aborted after the LC5 chief, Ian Kyeyune, refused to step down for him. Kyeyune was the Movement chairman for Wakiso, while Bukenya was MP for Busiro North. The elections were postponed until President Yoweri Museveni got the rivals to agree on who takes the chair.
