UNEB sets fees for exams registration

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has set fees which will be paid by parents, come this Friday as schools start the one-month registration of candidates; ahead of national examinations early next year.
The executive secretary of UNEB, Dan Odongo says the board has not increased its charges for national examinations, and parents should not be duped by school headteachers to pay more than the required fees.
According to UNEB, pupils in Primary Seven will pay sh34,000, those in Senior Four will pay sh164,000 and students in Senior six will pay sh186,000.
Odongo warned all headteachers, to desist from charging students much more than the set fees.
"In case a school is overcharging parents, please make a formal complaint and we will follow up this matter," he advised.
Students will be expected to start registering for Uganda National Examinations on October 22 and the process will end on November 20.
The Schools Calendar shows that the briefing of students will be on February 26, and the Uganda Certificate of Education examinations will start on March 1, 2021, to April 6, 2021.
Odongo explained that briefing of candidates in Primary Seven will be on March 26 and they will later sit for their examinations on March 30 and March 31, 2021.
Briefing for Senior Six candidates will follow on April 9 and they will sit for examinations from April 12 to May 3, 20121.
Odongo, had earlier on told New Vision, on Monday this week, that the setting of examinations and other preparations are on course.
In a phone interview, he said that the registration of students is set to start at the end of the month.
All students and teachers, need to take time and prepare for the national examinations. He also noted that the Government had also released funds, to the board, to go ahead and plan for the sitting of the national examinations.
