Makerere burnt building not world heritage site - UNESCO

The UNESCO representative to Uganda, Rosie Ogoi, has confirmed that the recently burnt Makerere University Main building is not a UNESCO heritage site.

The historical building was gutted by fire last weekend and property was lost.

She said this during the launch of a one-year project to support the growth of the Uganda film industry supported by the European union and UNESCO through the Ministry of Gender.

At the same function, Anna Merrifield, In-charge of affairs at the European Union said that the Arts industry has potential to minimise unemployment among the youth.
