Army court remands three over illegal possession of a gun

The accused appeared before the General Court Martial(GCM) chairman Lt.Gen Andrew Gutti in Makindye to take plea and denied the charges.

The army court has remanded three men over illegal possession of a gun and bullets belonging to the UPDF.

The accused are Ashraf Mubiru (20) a resident of Bulenga Kikaaya Zone in Wakiso district, Isaac Maasa (18) a tailor,resident of Kigaga Zone,Lungujja Parish in Rubaga division,Kampala district and George William Sekatte (19) a tailor, resident of Salama road, Makindye Division.

The accused  appeared before the General Court Martial(GCM) chairman Lt.Gen Andrew Gutti in Makindye to take plea and denied the charges.

Prosecution led by Maj Samuel Masereje and Captain Ambrose Baguma Maj, allege that the accused and others still at large between July 29 and 30 2020 at Kabowa Church zone were found with an SAR UG PSO 12084381-04000 and five live bullets.

Gutti read to them the charges too which they denied. The prosecution told the court that investigations into the cases were still ongoing and requested more time to complete the investigations.
 
The case was adjourned to October 12 2020 and the accused were remanded at Kitatta Government prison .
