Burial of fallen entrepreneur FX Kitaka in pictures

Renowned pharmaceutical entrepreneur Francis Xavier Kitaka, who succumbed to the coronavirus at the age of 86, was Sunday laid to rest in Bunamwaya in Wakiso district.

Earlier, during his requiem mass on Friday, Kitaka's family urged Ugandans to take seriously the threat posed by the virus, which has infected more than 30 million people and killed over 950,000 globally.

"COVID-19 is not a joke. It claimed the life of our dad. So, please follow the respective guidelines. Wear a face mask. Do not wait to first lose your loved one. The relatively low number of COVID-19 deaths should not make you doubt the reality of the pandemic," Dr. Francis Kitaka Junior, the son of the late, told mourners during the mass.

Cumulatively, Uganda has registered 6,287 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 63 related deaths. As many as 2,616 recoveries have been recorded.

Veteran biochemist Kitaka died at Mulago Hospital eight days ago, on September 20, 2020.

He has been described as a genuine investor who loved God and was original in his thinking. Others have described him as a great leader full of faith, hope and love.
