Henry Mayeku signed a one-year renewable contract to take over as the club's CEO

URA FC chairman James Kizza says the appointment Henry Mayeku as the new CEO will play a big in putting structures in place at the club.

Kizza made the remarks at URA headquarters in Nakawa as Mayeku was presented to the media.

One of Mayeku's roles will be to come up with plans on how the club can own a stadium, a few years after they bought land in Bugema.

"Setting up infrastructure is expensive since you need to follow a lot of procedures but I believe we are moving in the right direction. With Mayeku coming on board, I believe these are some of the things he is going to push for the club to excel.

He is experienced and was once at the club so he knows what the club needs. We have a lot of hope in him that he will change the dimensions of the club to reach the level we want it to be," noted Kizza.

Mayeku who signed a one-year renewable contract believes URA needs to have continuous success for the club to excel.

"When the club had just started, its emphasis was to get results. The success has not been sustainable but that is what we are going to work on. Brand activation, building human resources, and working on structures are some of the areas to address. We also have plans to own a permanent home," stated Mayeku.

"I want to thank the board for entrusting me with this role. I have confidence that we are going to change it to a winning club. We are going to build something new. We hope by the time the season ends, we shall have started using our own pitch in Bugema, while our junior team may be able to use the facility by the time the season starts. To be self-sustaining is a process and it is not a problem only at URA but in Uganda. We have drawn a program to see we reach that level," he added.

Mayeku who previously served as the club secretary-general (2011-2016) took over from Ivan Kakembo following the expiration of his contract in November last year.

Following Kakembo's departure, the tax collectors appointed Bright Nakayenga as the interim CEO before Mayeku took over.
