Striker Bashir Mutanda hopes to be a better player after joining Mbarara City on a two-year deal.

Mutanda is confident that he still has the potential to deliver.

"I am going to work hard so that am in good shape and form. I have many targets I have set for myself which I have to accomplish while at Mbarara City like winning the top scorer accolade. So fans should know that the club has signed a hard-working player who is ready to deliver," stated Mutanda.

Mutanda who was unveiled by the club in Kampala joined the Ankole Lions as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with SC Villa.

At the same event that was attended by the club chairman who also doubles as Youth MP for Western Uganda Mwine Mpaka Rwamirama, head coach Brian Ssenyondo, team manager Julius Byabakama, CEO Norbert Ssemusu, the club also unveiled new sponsors  Premium Distillers Limited.

Even though Mbarara City has beefed up their squad with new players, the departure of their key players Ibrahim Orit (Vipers and Brian Aheebwa (KCCA) was a big blow.

But club coach Ssenyondo has called upon the fans not to lose hope because this is the season for the Ankole Lions to fight for the title.

"I have much confidence in Mutanda. He is going to score goals that will enable us to challenge for the trophy this season. We've not signed many players but we believe in the squad that we have at the moment," Ssenyondo said.

Mutanda joins new other signings including; Ronald Edwoko, Godfrey Kalungi, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Frank Yiga, and Julius Ssekyewa.
