KALAKI - The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party in Kalaki district has held its primary elections to have its flag bearer for Kalaki County.

The general secretary of the FDC party in Kalaki district, Emmanuel Emwaku, said whereas they have 10 sub-counties in the district, the elections were held only in the six mother sub-counties.

Emwaku said they had two aspirants who were struggling for the FDC flag to compete in next year's parliamentary elections.

Dennis Alfred Elyau faced Thomas Ochan in the race.

Emwaku, upon tallying all the results from different sub-counties, announced Elyau as the winner, with 233 votes, against Ochan's 119.

Elyau will be facing Clement Kenneth Ongalo Obote who was elected as the NRM flag-bearer.

He said he was ready to face candidates from other parties who either had already been elected from their party primaries or those who were contest as independents.

Both Elyau and Ochan hail from Otuboi sub-county.

Elyau said once in Parliament, he will lobby for more development activities for his people in the county and thentire district.

One of the members of FDC from Anyara sub-county, Moses Ecou, said there was no need for them as members of the opposition to live in fear.

"I want to ask all my fellow members of FDC to be strong and support our candidate. We are all set, just like other parties.

However, Ochan, said he will contest as an independent candidate, citing irregularities in the primaries.

"I am going to contest and I believe Kalaki people will vote me into leadership. It is even good when there are many candidates, such that I can surprise them," Ochan said.
