The first body to be retrieved was of a female juvenile aged 12 years, identified as Namazzi Alyera, a resident of Nsambya Kitooro, Makindye Division, Kampala Capital City.

Police on Wednesday, September 09, 2020 recovered two dead bodies along Nakivubo Channel at Clock Tower near Total fuel station, following a heavy downpour.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango noted that the two bodies were carried by flood water from different places.

The first body to be retrieved was of a female juvenile aged 12 years, identified as Namazzi Alyera, a resident of Nsambya Kitooro, Makindye Division, Kampala Capital City.

Onyango noted that Namazzi was playing with her friends during the rain and their ball fell into a nearby trench and when she tried to remove the ball, the water overpowered her and swept her away.

"Her body was swept up to Clock Tower, where a boda boda rider saw it and informed the police. Police went and retrieved the body. While still carrying on their work, another body appeared and it was also removed," Onyango said.

The second body had not yet been identified by press time and Onyango asked those whose relatives went missing to immediately contact the police.

He appealed to members of the public to be very cautious during this rainy season.
