Moses Ali gets landslide in NRM polls

Moses Ali cruised to victory, beating his only challenger Irama Tolu Philip by a wide margin in most polling centres across Adjumani West County.

First Deputy Prime Minister, Gen. Moses Ali, has his hands on the ruling NRM party flag for Adjumani West County as incumbents in Ma'di sub-region sweep through for ruling NRM party flag save for Adjumani East County. 

Moses Ali cruised to victory, beating his only challenger Irama Tolu Philip by a wide margin in most polling centres across Adjumani West County. 

Ali, garnered 11,799 votes while, Irama, polled a distant 5,204 votes, sending his supporters in an early celebratory procession through Adjumani town. 

In other results, the incumbent Jessica Ababiku took Adjumani Woman NRM party parliamentary flag with 27,281 defeating Jessica Eriyo and Monica Koliba who scored 7,210 and 2,835 respectively. 

As early as midday on Friday, a pocket of jubilant supporters of candidates were seen across Adjumani town in victory procession as preliminary results from the 211 polling centres started coming in. 

For Adjumani East County incumbent Angel Mark Dulu, lost by a narrow margin obtaining 9,354 votes to reigning itirikwa male District councillor James Mamawi, who got 9,633 votes. 

Dulu's agents at district tally centre have contested the result and declined to sign the declaration forms alleging that nonparty members voted during the polls. 

Other candidates in the race were Latigo Collins with 1,274 votes and former Adjumani area MP Eruaga Piro Santos Eruaga who tailed the race with a distant 381 votes. 

In Moyo, state minister for primary health care Joyce Moriku Kaducu emerged the victor polling 15,442, her challenger also former Moyo Woman MP Anne Auru obtained 6,378 votes. 

Moyo West incumbent MP Alero Tom Aza, beats off two competitors with 16,999 votes, while Patrick Obulejo and Jimmy Unzi obtained 4,069 and 357 votes respectively. 

In the newly created Obongi district, Zumura Maneno won the Woman parliamentary flag in a hard-fought contest obtaining 3,888 votes as Ataya Suraya and Faida Vincent garnered 3,758 and 1,979 votes respectively.
