Mbarara city NRM electoral commission has halted the voting exercise for the MP seat for Mbarara City South at Rubiri polling station in Nyamityobora ward citing chaos, Kawesa Sebuuma, the Mbarara City NRM registrar revealed.
Kawesa told New Vision that the voting exercise for the Mbarara City Woman MP at Rubiri polling station ended successfully but later turned chaotic when some local leaders got involved in disrupting the exercise.
"We have decided to halt the exercise until further notice some leaders and voters disagreed and became violent. The voting in other areas were held peacefully and we are here receiving results at the tally centre," Kawesa added.
The contestants for Mbarara City South MP seat include, the Western region MP, Mwine Mpaka, Mbararabaki Emmanuel, Deus Tumusiime, Kagiko Imam and Seth Muyambi.
In Mbarara City North, Moroccan ambassador to Uganda, Robert Mwesigwa Rukaari has battled it out with Mbarara Muncipality MP, Micheal Tusiime, Apollo Rutaaba, Senate Baringi ,Zainab Nabwami and Mwalimu Matsiko Julius.
For Mbarara Woman MP seat the contestants included, Former Mbarara Woman MP in the ninth Parliament Emma Boona, Atukwasa Rita Bwahika, Ayebare Anita Kasyata, Ainamani Brendah, Kyomugisha Donah, Dr. Patricia Kabahango, Kagira Jolly Tumwine, Bonnie Kiconco Kashaija, Kebirungi Teddy, Kellen Ayebazibwe and Clare Ekiyasiimire, Chopper, a former Radio West presenter.
