Uganda registers close to 100 COVID cases in single day, three deaths

“Wear your mask if you don’t want to die,” Aceng warned on Wednesday. “Cover both your mouth and nose.”

"The situation is getting out of hand," Sam Okiror, a local journalist remarked shortly after the Ministry of Health announced the confirmation of 94 new  COVID-19 patients and three deaths related to the virus in the country.

Ninety-four is, so far, the highest figure to be registered in a single day in Uganda and Okiror has cause to worry.

Health Minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng warned yesterday that COVID-19 deaths could catapult higher with more community cases being registered, especially in the capital, Kampala.

"Wear your mask if you don't want to die," Aceng warned on Wednesday. "Cover both your mouth and nose."

The Thursday announcement by the ministry increases the total number of deaths in the country to 19, while the cumulative number of confirmed patients stands at 1,750.
